What is USA Swimming?

USA Swimming

USA Swimming is the National Governing Body for the sport of swimming in the United States. They promote the culture of swimming by creating safe and healthy opportunities for athletes and coaches of all backgrounds to participate and advance in the sport through clubs, events and education. Our membership is comprised of swimmers of every age and ability, all the way up to the Olympic Team, as well as coaches, officials and volunteers.

USA Swimming is responsible for selecting and training teams for international competition, including the Olympic Games, and administer competitive swimming in accordance with the Ted Stevens Olympic & Amateur Sports Act.

LSCs

Not to be confused with Lakeland Swim Club, Local Swim Committees (LSCs) are groups that act as representatives for specific swimming communities throughout the country. There are 59 LSCs with defined boundaries that are unique to an area of the country. LSCs are tasked with registering members, scheduling competitions and leading clubs on behalf of USA Swimming.

Membership

Athlete membership of USA swimming is required if a swimmer is interested in swimming beyond the Central Wisconsin Swim Conference Divisional Championships and Conference Championships. This includes swimming in summer meets, national meets, state meets, and State Regional and Championship meets.
