What is the relationship between NLAC and LSC?

The Lakeland Swim Club (LSC) is part of the Central Wisconsin Swim Conference(CWSC), which is a regional swim conference to provide competition to youth swimmers. To swim at the State and National levels, swimmers must swim as part of team that is a member of USA Swimming.

The Northern Lakes Aqutic Club (NLAC) is a competitive swimming program that is a member of USA Swimming. Members of clubs that are part of the CWSC (such as Lakeland Swim Club) may also be members of the NLAC, if the swimmer also is a member of USA Swimming.

When swimmers from LSC swim at State and National Meets, they swim as members of NLAC, not members of LSC.

CWSC

The Central Wisconsin Swim Conference (CWSC) (formerly the Central Wisconsin YMCA Swim Conference) was formed in the interest of the YMCA swimmers of Central Wisconsin. The Conference was formed in 1969 by YMCAs in Eau Claire, La Crosse, Port Edwards, Stevens Point, and Wausau.  In the early 1990's the Conference moved away from the YMCA formatted clubs and shifted to USA Swimming. Teams that have joined our Conference are not required to join NLAC, but NLAC does welcome all teams!

NLAC

The Northern Lakes Aquatic Club, (NLAC), is a competitive swimming program and member of USA Swimming.  NLAC is a 501(c )(3) organization operated by a consortium of USA registered coaches representing swimmers from various pools across Northern and Western Wisconsin. NLAC is supported by the Central Wisconsin Swim Conference (CWSC) aquatic programs in the communities of Rice Lake, Bayfield, Ladysmith, Rhinelander, Tomahawk, Antigo, Medford, Phillips, Black River Falls, Merrill, the Minocqua/Woodruff area, Eau Claire, Bloomer, and Wisconsin Rapids.

Philosophy

Northern Lakes Aquatic Club, Inc (NLAC) is a non-profit swimming team where each participant, regardless of age or ability level, is important. It is our philosophy to provide our children with the following:

  • The skills for participating in a life-long sport
  • The opportunity to compete with children of similar ability
  • The recognition of the relationship between effort and reward; and
  • The opportunity to succeed and gain confidence
  • Everyone who has a positive attitude is encouraged to participate on our team; however, in order for an athlete to learn to reach his or her potential, he or she must be willing to work intelligently, consistently and conscientiously. The understanding of these principles will be of great worth not only in each athlete’s swimming career, but also in achieving his or her goals later in life.

Our objectives are:

  • To provide training and competition to all swimmers who desire it

  • To provide opportunities to learn good healthy habits
  • To have FUN while trying to accomplish goals
