11/3/24  First Home Meet of the Season

What a wonderful way to start the season! Where to begin…First, Robert and I would like to thank all of our coaches that took charge while we were out of town last week. We have full confidence in their abilities and our club is so blessed to have all of them. Just in case you don’t know them all here’s the list: Tierney Edwards, Ashley Johnson, Anna Schwingle, Laurel Parins, Ceci Aho, Amie Rein, Sherry and Grant VanLishout. As you can tell from the swims this weekend, they know their stuff. So thank you coaches for all you do!

Next we’d like to thank the great members of our board. As you can now see, there are lots of moving parts. I appreciate all of the work that goes on behind the scenes to run a smooth club. Thanks for making the first meet of the year a success.

I hope that this meet gave new parents and swimmers a better understanding of the world of competitive swimming. Even though this meet runs a bit differently than our regular season meets, the jobs and basic routine are the same. Parents did a great job of getting their swimmers to staging or on deck when needed.  Thank you for volunteering and cheering on your swimmer.

And to the swimmers, all of the coaches couldn’t be more proud of their efforts. Each swimmer gave it their best. There were many swimmers trying new events and even though we had our fair share of DQs, lots of credit for the effort. I was especially proud of our older swimmers and meet captains; Garrison, Gage, Norah, Abby, Jamie, Elliotte, Charlie, Calyn, who were on deck and helped with the little ones. It was also wonderful to see our swimmers being great sports. I watched Gavin Hall tell his competitors, Good Luck before his races. Gage Posielenzny always congratulates the swimmers in the lanes next to him. I watched the 9-10 boys making friends in staging with the other teams. Amie Rein, one of our coaches who also helped with stagging said that the kids were so respectful, polite and listened really well making things go smoothly. These are things that I love about sports! What a great way to practice life skills.

It was such a fun meet and I hope you enjoyed it as much as Robert and I did. We are looking forward to the rest of the season.

See you at the pool!

Coach Chris
